The newly launched Bridge to Access initiative is a strategic set of programmatic and financial objectives aimed at significantly advancing equitable access to global learning and career development opportunities for Americans from historically excluded communities.

As the world becomes more complex and connected, new ways of living and working demand new skills and competencies: collaboration, adaptability, cross-cultural understanding, fluency in foreign cultures and languages, and creativity. One of the most effective ways to hone these skills is through immersive global experiences.

But a combination of systemic and perceived barriers means that these immersive global experiences are too often reserved for those with resources and access, creating a critical gap in inclusive global leadership — Bridge to Access aims to change that.

The Bridge to Access initiative is focused on 3 key areas aimed at increasing equity and access in international exchange:

1. Capacity-Building: Funding scholarships that reduce or eliminate the financial burdens of living abroad

2. Programming: Expanding global exchange opportunities beyond traditional Western borders into key regions in Africa and Central and South America, and engaging rural and small-town voices in global leadership

3. Public Engagement: Engaging alumni, donors, partners, and friends in this critical work in creative and innovative ways
